There are many resources avaible to nonprofits- it's all about knowing where to look! Below are some resources availble.
The new Grant Resource Center at Hoyt Public Library is now available to serve the needs of area nonprofits who are seeking new sources of funding. The Grant Resource Center is a cooperating collection of the Foundation Center, the nation's leading authority on grantmakers and grants. It is also a cooperative project with the Saginaw Community Foundation. One of the highlights of this collection is The Foundation Directory Online, a fully searchable database that includes detailed information on grants, grant recipients as well as access to grantmaker Web sites and searchable 990's. It also includes information on over 80,000 foundations and core reference materials on grants, proposal writing, nonprofit management and current trends in philanthropy. The Foundation Directory Online and a companion database, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, can only be accessed at Hoyt Public Library. They are not available at any other branch. Hoyt Library is open (Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; and Sundays, 1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m., October - April). Organizations or agencies who would like an orientation can call (989) 755-9822.
Not Internet savvy? The Saginaw Community Foundation also has a hardcopy of the Foundation Directory. Individuals can look up funding sources by foundation, field of interest, etc.
