Johnston, who is the president and chief executive officer of the Saginaw Community Foundation, was one of five recipients who received awards at the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on November 6, at Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw Township. The awards are given to honor individuals and institutions that drive philanthropy in the tri-city region. “I am surprised and extremely honored to see that I am deserving enough to receive this award,” said Johnston, pictured on the right. “This award is a reflection of the staff and the services of the foundation. I am so proud of the foundation as a whole.” The association, which works to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs, also honored Bill and Joan McNally with the 2008 Outstanding Philanthropists award; Dominic “Renee is a standout. She is doing a great job at the foundation because of her innovative approach,” said Rick Middleton, an AFP board member. “Even though Saginaw County has been challenged with the economy, the foundation is an engine for change.” |
