As part of our Cornerstone Club campaign, we’re featuring several of our Cornerstone members on our blog. Learn more about Cornerstone

Family is important to Julie and Morrie Stevens, Sr. In the 1990s, Stevens Worldwide Van Lines started the Stevens Family Foundation Fund with a $20,000 gift. “Since then, it’s been a family effort of contributing to this fund, which focuses on youth and cultural programs,” says Morrie.

“Twice a year, we have a family council,” adds Julie. “One principle of family business is continuing philanthropy into the next generations by teaching children and grandchildren at a very early age.” Beginning at age 12, their grandchildren will attend the family council meetings and help make grant decisions.

“Working with the Saginaw Community Foundation has really exposed our children to the whole process of providing for community needs,” Julie says. “They’re all members of the Cornerstone Club. Every family meeting, we all write our checks to the club first.”
