In 2012, Nexteer Automotive established the Nexteer Steering the Future Fund at the Saginaw Community Foundation. This fund supports programs and initiatives impacting the lives of those in Saginaw County where Nexteer Automotive serves and their employees live, work and play. The Nexteer Steering the Future Fund allocates $20,000 annually to non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organizations.
To be eligible for funding, the applicant must secure project backing from a person currently working for Nexteer Automotive; a Nexteer Project Sponsor. The Nexteer Project Sponsor ensures the project meets the evaluation criteria and supports the project.
Application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1. The Nexteer Steering the Future Fund will not provide funding for the following: operating budgets, previously incurred debt, basic municipal and educational services, sectarian religious programs, sports team sponsorships and individual scholarships.
Nexteer Steering the Future Fund Criteria
● Improves international relations or promotes international commerce
● Promotes entrepreneurism and innovation in business
● Creates workplaces, communities and economies with greater diversity – in ethnicity, national origin, gender, skill sets and thought
● Improves communication skills in home, school, workplace, civic and global settings
● Trains the next generation of industry leaders by improving business, math, engineering and technology education
● Fosters innovation in technology and transportation
● Improves the economies and quality of life in the communities of Nexteer’s facilities and customers
● Creates a cleaner, safer environment for future generations
Nexteer Steering the Future Fund Grant Process
Before starting your application, a brief overview of the applicant’s proposed project must be provided to Kendra Kempf at the Saginaw Community Foundation by emailing kendra@saginawfoundation.org. After eligibility is determined, a grant application number will be assigned and emailed to the applicant along with the Nexteer Steering the Future Fund grant application. Requirements are detailed in this draft application.
Applicants will be notified of funding outcomes within 6 weeks after application due date by Saginaw Community Foundation.
