The mission of the Saginaw Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (SAIFA), formerly Saginaw Association of Life Underwriters (SALU), is to promote an ethical business environment for those in the profession of providing financial security to the public and to serve its members through leadership and support of the Association.

 

The Saginaw Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors Scholarship was established to reflect the Association’s strong commitment to higher education and the importance of giving back to the communities it serves.

 

Qualifications

● Minimum 2.5 GPA
● High school senior
● Pursuing an undergraduate degree at a two-or four year Michigan college or university
● Resident of Great Lakes Bay Region, Akron, Caro, Fairgrove, Reese or Vassar. Residency requirement doesn’t apply if the student’s parent  or legal guardian is a SAIFA (formerly SALU)  member.
● Full-time enrollment
 
 

 
 

Evaluation Criteria

Extracurricular activities (25); community involvement (25); scholastic record (25); essay (15); recommendations (10).  Bonus points will be awarded if parent is: (a) SAIFA member; (b) employed in the insurance industry or (c) permanently disabled or deceased.
