Debra Shelton // Youth First Director

Deb currently serves as the director of the Youth First program here at the foundation. She began working at SCF in 2009 as the site coordinator for the Youth First afterschool program at Martin G. Atkins Elementary in Bridgeport. For over 30 years, Deb has been committed to working with youth through positions at Saginaw Public Schools and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saginaw, Virginia Beach and Baltimore.

 

A “highlight in her life” occurred in 2007 when Deb participated in a mission trip to Uganda, Africa. During what she describes as a life-changing experience, Deb helped establish a desperately needed medical clinic in the capital city of Kampala.

 

In her free time, Deb enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, taking nature walks, singing and reading.

 

Deb is a graduate of Central Michigan University earning a Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling.
