More than 250 volunteers from 14 Saginaw County high schools will come together with local community leaders on Thursday, May 16, with one focus – to help make a difference in Saginaw County.

During this year’s Spring Into Service Day event, volunteers will spend their time painting, planting, raking, cleaning, staining and helping with minor repairs around the Celebration Square area in downtown Saginaw. Students will specifically be working at Crayola Park, Ojibway Island, Andersen Enrichment Center and at the Japanese Tea House.

Spring Into Service Day will kickoff at 8 a.m. at the Saginaw YMCA (1915 Fordney, Saginaw). After a quick breakfast, students will be divided into groups, participate in a team building exercise and will then depart as a group to their designated service area. This day not only represents community volunteerism but also signifies what people can do when they work together towards a common goal.

Students from the following schools have signed up to participate: Arthur Hill, Birch Run, Carrollton, Chesaning, Freeland, Hemlock, Heritage, Nouvel Catholic Central, Saginaw High, SASA, St. Charles, Swan Valley, Valley Lutheran and the SISD Transitions Center.
