Help Saginaw’s youth earn scholarships: Volunteers needed to help score scholarship applications

The Saginaw Community Foundation seeks community members to help review scholarship applications.

During March, volunteers will review a packet of applications and score the students in 10 different areas – such as leadership, volunteer service, extracurricular activities and essays – according to the provided guidelines.

“The review process can be completed in just a few hours,” said LeeAnn Martuch, program officer at the foundation. “You can review your packet of applications from home and we give you about two weeks to complete the entire process.”

To assure fairness, every student is reviewed by five volunteers and the scores are averaged.

“Volunteers come back year after year to help us review the applications,” Martuch said. “They love learning about the amazing youth we have in our community and knowing they played a part in helping them earn scholarships.”

For information about this volunteering opportunity, contact Martuch at (989) 755-0545 or leeann@saginawfoundation.org. Potential volunteers must contact Martuch by March 7.
