Dr. Economou dedicated his professional life to public education in Saginaw and surrounding districts as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, assistant superintendent, and athletic director. He was deeply committed to mentoring students beyond the classroom, supporting them throughout high school and into their college journeys. His influence extended across academics, athletics, and community involvement, reflecting his belief in developing well-rounded students.
This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to both academics and extracurricular involvement. Special consideration is given to applicants who participate in one or more varsity sports and who are actively engaged in school and/or community clubs and activities. The scholarship seeks to honor Dr. Economou’s legacy by supporting students who embody leadership, dedication, teamwork, and service to others.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2.8 GPA
- Graduating high school senior residing of Saginaw County
- Part- or full-time enrollment
- Pursuing undergraduate degree or Career and Technical Education (CTE) training
