In 1926, Margaret Fisher established a scholarship with the United Advisory Scholarship Commission in 1926 in the name of her late husband, E.C.Fisher, a former member of the East Side Saginaw Board of Education, who served on its building committee.
Mr. Fisher received a Mechanical Engineering degree from Cornell University. E.C. Fisher was regarded as one of the country’s leading experts in the design and operation of steam boilers. He was vice president and general manager of the Wickes Boiler Company in Saginaw. He also served as vice president of the American Boiler Manufacturers Association. He was a member of the council of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and was on its boiler code committee. He was honored by the engineering profession through election to Sigma Xi, an honorary engineering fraternity.
To honor Mr. Fisher’s great interest in engineering, this scholarship will assist a graduating senior from Saginaw United High School or Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy pursuing a degree in engineering.
