Committees

Bylaws Committee

Reviews the bylaws, policies and procedures of the foundation. Meets on an as-needed basis.

 

 

Distribution Committee 

Reviews grants, makes funding recommendations to the board and helps determine community priorities for funds. Meets quarterly.

 

 

 

Finance & Audit Committee

Responsible for the fiscal operations of the foundation and monitors the foundation’s administrative expenses. Meets quarterly or on an as-needed basis.

 

Saginaw Youth FORCE

Created as a result of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Community Foundation Youth Project. Youth advisory committee members conduct needs assessments, participate in community volunteer activities and make grants that benefit young people. Meets monthly during the school year.

 

Grants For Excellence Committee

Responsible for reviewing applications for the Grants for Excellence teacher mini-grant program. Recommendations are forwarded to the board for final approval. Meets twice a year.

 

Investment Committee

Reviews the foundation’s investment performance and policies on an ongoing basis. Meets on an as-needed basis.

 

 

Marketing and Asset Development Committee

Assists with the foundation’s long-term development activities and helps increase public awareness about the Saginaw Community Foundation, its programs, and its activities. Meets on an as-needed basis.

 

Professional Advisors Committee

Serves as a council of key legal, financial and trust officers to advise SCF on outreach to professional advisors, our materials, new products, etc. Through our meetings, we will provide them with any information and education they may need on charitable giving, as well as keep them current about recent activities at SCF. Meets on a semi-annual basis.

 

Scholarship Committee

Reviews scholarship applications for many of the scholarships administered by SCF. Meets a few times each spring.

 

Special Events Committee

Responsible for planning and preparation for special events, such as Annual Meeting and the Cornerstone Club recognition event. Meets on an as-needed basis.

 

Youth First Committee

Develops Youth First strategy and programs.

 

Many individual funds also have their own advisory committees to review grant or scholarship applications or to conduct special projects.
