Saginaw Community Foundation General Grant

Through a single application, your project or program could possibly be considered by one or more of five different competitive grantmaking committees at the Saginaw Community Foundation. 

Applicants must contact the Kendra Kempf at the Saginaw Community Foundation at (989) 755-0545 or kendra@saginawfoundation.org prior to submitting an application to determine eligibility and to receive a grant number. 

Saginaw Community Foundation general grant applications are due quarterly. Due dates are Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1 and Nov. 1.

SCF Distribution Committee

  • All-purpose discretionary grants funded by the SCF Unrestricted Endowment Fund and various field-of-interest funds
  • Designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of nonprofit organizations 
  • SCF Distribution Committee meets quarterly to review applications 
  • Typical maximum grant is $15,000

YWCA Fund for Women & Children Committee

  • For projects and programs that benefit women and children of Saginaw County
  • The YWCA Fund for Women and Children Committee meets quarterly to review applications
  • Maximum grant is $5,000

Senior Citizens Enrichment Fund Committee

  • For programs supporting charitable purposes that benefit seniors in Saginaw County
  • Priority is placed on programs and projects that enhance the quality of life for those seniors maintaining an independent residence
  • The Senior Citizen Enrichment Committee meets quarterly to review applications
  • Typical grant awards vary between $2,000-$10,000

FORCE Youth Advisory Committee

  • For projects and programs directly benefiting Saginaw County youth
  • Priority is placed on programs/projects that empower youth; increase their awareness of community issues; and include youth in the planning and implementation
  • The FORCE Youth Advisory Committee meets twice annually to review applications submitted by the Feb. 1 and Nov. 1 deadlines
  • Typical grant awards vary between $2,000-$6,000

Heroes for Kids Fund Committee

  • Founded by Saginaw natives Clifton Ryan IV (St. Louis Rams) and LaMarr Woodley (Pittsburgh Steelers)
  • Provides grants to support summer youth programming and recreation for children who live within the City of Saginaw
  • The Heroes for Kids Committee meets annually to review applications submitted by the Feb. 1 deadline
  • Grant amounts have varied between $1,000-$5,000
