Brandon WalkerBrandon Walker was a member of Swan Valley High School Class of 2011. After graduating from high school, Brandon planned to attend Ferris State University to study criminal justice. He had secured a part-time position with the Ferris State University Police and was one of two chosen from over 100 applicants. This was just one example of how Brandon was determined to pursue his passions in life. No matter what the level of competition was before him, Brandon gave his all.

Brandon was honest and kind-hearted. He was an inspirational example of what one can do with their life regardless of obstacles they may face. Brandon enjoyed making people laugh. He loved sports from the time he was young and later played varsity football and baseball at Swan Valley High School. Brandon enjoyed playing hockey and golf as well as going snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a passion for public safety as well.

Brandon volunteered at the Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum in Saginaw and with the Tittabawassee Township Police. He enjoyed helping kids that participated in a youth football league.

On July 9, 2011, Brandon passed away at the age of 18 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the morning after his summer job.

Brandon’s mother, Catherine Kalahar-Walker, and father, Steve Walker, have established the Brandon Walker “BW” Memorial Scholarship for students pursuing a college education in honor of Brandon’s passion for helping youth.
