Bud & Katherine Rae Aviation Scholarship

The Bud and Katherine Rae Aviation Scholarship was organized by friends of the late Bernard “Bud” Rae in 1983 to honor his many years of service to the aviation community. Among the principal organizers and donors of the scholarship fund are the Aviation Division of the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department, the Saginaw Valley Air Museum and Mrs. Katherine Rae.

 

The purposes of the scholarship are to assist in preparation for an aviation career, to promote safety in aviation through education, training and research, to promote scientific study of aviation-related phenomenon, to develop aviation-oriented community leaders and to perpetuate the spirit of community service personified by Bud Rae.

 

Qualifications

● U.S. citizen and resident of Saginaw County
● Accepted or enrolled in an aviation-related program at a technical school, community college or university in Michigan
● Show character, commitment, and ability required for a career in aviation
● Interest and involvement in aviation-oriented activities is mandatory (i.e., Civil Air Patrol, Young Eagle)
● Full-time enrollment

Evaluation Criteria

Financial need; involvement in aviation related activities; academic abilities in science and math, and/or skills appropriate to an aviation career.
