Great Lakes Safety Training Center Scholarship

Great Lakes Safety Training Center (GLSTC) established this fund with the help of many local contractors and businesses to benefit individuals who are pursuing a career in the trades or construction with an emphasis on safety. Their mission is “Preparing People to Live Safely Every Day” and would like to support those who want to continue helping others to live safely.

 

The Great Lakes Safety Training Center Scholarship will provide an annual scholarship award to a resident of Gratiot or Saginaw County who is pursuing a degree or certification in trades, construction, manufacturing, or engineering with an interest in safety at a college, university, or licensed vocational/technical school in the State of Michigan.

 

Qualifications

● Minimum 2.5 GPA
● Declared a major and pursuing a certificate, Career and Techincal Education (CTE) training (skilled trade/vocation), associate, undergraduate or graduate degree in trades, construction, manufacturing, or engineering with an interest in safety
● Essay on why this field of study was chosen and how safety has impacted or can impact their life

● Must be at least a college sophomore at time of application
● Gratiot or Saginaw County resident
● Full-time enrollment

Evaluation Criteria

Essay (30); academic performance (20); Special skills (occupational safety training, first aid, CPR, etc.)(30); Letters of recommendation (20).
