Jerry Redeemer was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1966. He was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear until he followed his desire to work with children. His exact words were, “I’ve been around kids all my life, I can’t see myself putting in 25 years of service on an assembly line. I’m looking for something to venture into and this recreation job is growing on me.” After hard work and dedication to children, he became director of the City of Saginaw Recreation Department. After dedicating over 30 years touching lives in so many different ways, he retired in 1997. After retirement, Jerry was employed as the director of the Buena Vista Community Center.

In 1985, Jerry became a licensed minister at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry also founded several choirs and groups including the Saginaw Valley District Choir, Saginaw Valley Mass Choir and Sterling Brooks and Connection Choir. He was also affiliated with the State and National Baptist Conventions that include the Gospel Music Workshop of America.
