The Gene and Shirley Nuckolls Scholarship was established to give financial assistance to a Saginaw Public Schools graduating senior who plans to pursue a teaching career at the secondary level.

 

Shirley Nuckolls, a graduate of Saginaw High School, worked in the Saginaw Public Schools for over 30 years as a teacher, counselor and assistant principal. Gene Nuckolls was principal at Saginaw High School for five years and was an assistant superintendent for secondary education for 25 years.

 

Both educators emphasized individualized counseling and strong career preparation to ensure success for all students after high school.

 

Qualifications

● Minimum 2.5 GPA
● Majoring in secondary education
● High school senior from Saginaw Public Schools
● Full-time enrollment

Evaluation Criteria

Scholastic record; overall involvement in community, school, and work activities; recommendations; career goals as defined in essay; leadership; financial need.
