Ron Schauman has been a tremendous investor in the Freeland community for his entire life. Ron and his wife moved to Freeland in the early 1980s and helped build Freeland into the success it is today. He built a stellar family with his wife Michelle, three children and eight grandchildren – all of whom still reside in Freeland today. He constructed many of the residential neighborhoods and businesses in the Freeland area and has contributed thousands of his own labor hours and tens of thousands of hard earned dollars into building the Freeland community. Along the way he mentored many in the skilled trades who now own and operate their own businesses in the area. Of the dozens of Ron’s community contributions he has made to date, the very successful Freeland SportsZone is one that looms large. The Ronald J. Schauman Trades Scholarship Fund mission is to assist graduating high school seniors and non-traditional students entering a skilled trade curriculum. It was the skilled trades and strong family values that Ron used to help build Freeland. The Freeland SportsZone is now proud to extend such an opportunity in Ron’s name to the young builders of tomorrow.
