Kara Kaltenbach photoKara Susan Kaltenbach (Conlan)’s family and friends will cherish the memory of a bright, fun- loving, and determined woman who is an inspiration to anyone yearning to live life to the fullest. Kara passed away unexpectedly on the morning of November 7, 2006 after enjoying something she loved to do: hiking with her friends in the desert mountains of California. Inquisitive and resolute, Kara loved learning, traveling and playing soccer and volleyball. She was accomplished in yoga and Pilates, which she thoroughly enjoyed along with her “yogi” friends. Kara was an outstanding student-athlete, excelling in her favorite sport of swimming at all levels. After completing a brilliant career at Heritage High School, Kara graduated summa cum laude and was recognized as a 1994 All-American and Academic All-American and Michigan All-State swimmer. Kara and her team set several Saginaw Valley and Tri-City Area swimming records. Kara went on to join the swimming and diving program at the University of Michigan, which won four Big Ten titles during Kara’s career. Kara graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Biology in April, 1998. To say that Kara was a Wolverine fanatic would be an understatement. Kara and Jonas Conlan were married on August 21, 2004 and their careers led them to Southern California where they worked, played, and enjoyed a healthy, active lifestyle with their family, friends and their darling Irish Terrier, Darby. Kara was employed as a representative for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Her love of life and indomitable spirit will never be forgotten. Kara was born on May 13, 1976 in Saginaw. She will live forever in the memories of her husband Jonas Conlan; her parents, Charles Patrick and Susan Decker Kaltenbach; and brothers, Ryan and Eric.
